When it comes to branding (and no, we don't mean what you do to cows) perception is EVERYTHING!
Branding is what helps your customers identify your products and services, distinguish you from competitors and create a persona that your customer base can connect with.
Your brand is what invokes the emotions and perceptions about your business and is intentionally cultivated to communicate with your customers through visual and verbal cues.
Branding speaks to the subconscious using those visual and verbal cues, which, considering that a study showed that 95% of human decisions are made on a subconscious level, makes it pretty darn important!
It will be one of the primary reasons a customer chooses YOUR company over THIER company.
Your logo, color palette, unique brand language, mission, values, etc, reach the subconscious and play a huge factor in whether people decide if they like you or not.
Good branding will raise brand awareness. Brand awareness is how easy it is for people to remember your brand name, products or services. For example, how often have you said that you need a Kleenex when you actually are referring to a tissue.
But brand awareness is more than just knowing a company exists...it's also the traits people associate with your company. Take Patagonia for example. You know they make performance-based, comfortable outerwear and clothing. You also know that along with their sustainable clothing and buy-back policies, they also support environmental conservation.
Successful use of visual, auditory and physical cues will create brand recognition that burns its way into the mind of your customer (see what we did there?) and creates the loyalty that all companies strive for!
